Bring a capability.
Sharpen the experiment.

FogLab needs a qualified measurement environment before it needs a deployment site. The first useful conversation is about instruments, fog regimes, flow and integration.

What the first facility needs

  • A reproducible wet aerosol or fog population, with composition, temperature and humidity characterized.
  • Wet-size measurement reaching the particles important to optical extinction, with quantified sampling losses and missing size tails.
  • Calibrated upstream and downstream optics, adequate optical access and transit-aligned measurements.
  • A defined flow field that can accommodate the proposed passive and powered collector geometry.
  • Qualified high-voltage supervision, interlocks, emissions monitoring and a clear facility approval route.

The protocol proposes screening at 1, 2 and 4 m/s only where the apparatus and measurements can be qualified. A published facility capability does not establish that this specific experiment can be integrated there.

LACIS-T

A turbulent convection wind tunnel for studying aerosol and cloud processes under controlled temperature and humidity conditions.

  • Published operation at approximately 0.5–2 m/s, with controlled seed aerosol and humidity.
  • Optical access and published experiments with humidified salt particles support measurement-development work.

Published capabilities do not establish compatibility with a full-span powered collector, operation at 4 m/s or the complete required wet-particle measurement range.

Pi Chamber

A laboratory cloud chamber supporting sustained cloud experiments with controlled aerosol and thermodynamic conditions.

  • Published cloud lifetimes can exceed one day, supporting repeated measurements under controlled conditions.
  • Published instrumentation includes phase-Doppler measurements of cloud droplets.

The chamber's convective flow is not equivalent to the proposed 1–4 m/s duct experiment. Submicron wet-aerosol coverage, collector installation and current external access terms require confirmation.

PAVIN Fog and Rain

A 50-metre fog-and-rain test platform advertised for evaluating and developing equipment under controlled adverse-weather conditions.

  • The current facility description reports stable fog with meteorological optical range between 10 and 80 metres.
  • Cerema offers equipment evaluation and development services using the platform.

Public material does not confirm salt-seeded fog, the required submicron wet-aerosol measurements, controlled collector face velocity or high-voltage integration.
