The open-boundary question

What changes when fog can travel around a collector rather than through it?

Does a useful volume stay clear?

The full-span collector test establishes a bounded comparison in controlled flow. A corridor, port or outdoor site brings an additional problem: air can bypass the device, and new fog can be advected into the volume of interest.

The next quantities to define

  • Map the spatial optical field rather than relying on one favorable sight line.
  • Measure through-flow, bypass and changing inlet conditions.
  • Define the cleared volume and the time it must remain useful.
  • Set the site’s visibility, energy, noise and maintenance requirements before a pilot.
H3 is a separate hypothesis in WX-FOG-001. It begins only after the full-span comparison is qualified. Historical outdoor experiments are relevant prior art, but do not establish this proposed geometry’s performance.
